Following the phenomenal box office success of Golden Chickensssthat grossed over HK$40millionsin its 2014 Chinese New Year release, Director Matt Chow and Actress-Producer Sandra Ng have teamed up once again to create another Hong Kong classic: 12 Golden Ducks

Combining elements of comedy, romance and action, 12 Golden Ducksis a comeback story about the misadventures of a group of gigolos (referred to in local vernacular as "ducks") trying to make their mark in Hong Kong. As with any profession, they have went through their share of setbacks. But their ability to find laughter within the tears reflects the drive, passion and the indomitable spirit of the Hong Kong people.

SYNOPSIS

A group of middle-aged men are playing mahjong; it’s the St. Stephen Lutheran Middle School reunion party.

It’s the St Stephen Lutheran Middle school reunion party and a group of middle-aged men are playing mahjong, while watching a TV program whereby a group of women discuss their experiences of hiring gigolos. CHAN, a stockbroker, watches with disdain. The rest, however, know only too well that there’s no gender divide when it comes to selling oneself for money. They all service women in one way or another for a living, they include:

MR. LO a retired teacher turned singing coach who drives women into a frenzy with his Cantonese Opera singing;
ROCKY a fitness trainer who mesmerizes female students with his well-muscled physique;
JAMIE a pastry chef/instructor who is frequently molested by students during class;

They all "live off women’s money," something that is looked upon with disdain in Chinese culture!

As the others excitedly exchange stories about their experiences, Mr. Lo notices the absence of his star pupil, former school heartthrob, FUTURE. The group reminisces about Future, in awe of his skills at earning women’s money. Future is rumored to be traveling the globe. But Broker Chan and the class monitress who were both victims of a school prank by Future, reveal that Future is actually down-and-out. The former monitress shared that she bumped into Future at a Go-go Bar in Bangkok, and Future was so unkempt and out of shape that he turns off patrons.

Feeling sorry for Future, Mr. Lo flies to Thailand to track him down at the Go-go Bar. Hoping to help Future regain his former swagger and confidence, Mr Lo convinces Future to return to Hong Kong to start anew.

Returning to Hong Kong, Future works hard to regain his former good looks and killer physique with the help of his old classmate, Rocky, the fitness trainer. He eventually receives a call from Mr. Lo for a trial gig at Loy-Loy. Determined to reclaim his rightful place among the gigolo ranks, Future eagerly enters Loy-Loy only to discover that he has been sent to an old-age nursing home to entertain grannies….

Basically its a just a show with many casts inside.. if you wanna see many artistes in a show, you can go for this. The jokes didn't really made me laugh.. It was not that funny enough I guess, I think it can be done better. But if you wanna see how Sandra Ng act as a guy in the show.. by all means you can catch this show.. She made her self with a pretty muscular body with 8-pacs.

Still remember Sandra Ng with her 38G fake breasts from her previous movie - Golden Chickensss?

Here in the New movie she transformed herself to a guy's chest with 8-pack abs.

This picture portrays a very sporting sight of her being versatile on different roles.
which is something I do admire!

Lai.. Strike a pose!

Video of Sandra Ng’s Transformation into a Man!

Enjoy!

We should appreciate the aunty/uncle cleaners at our Hawker Centres and Food Courts.
Below are some of the things you can do to show your appreciation for their work. They may be paid low, but not everybody would like to do this job.

  • Thank them when they clean up your table.
  • Eat properly. Because you're NOT an animal.
  • Return the tray with your plates and utensils to the tray corner, if not at least stack up your plates and bowls nicely to ease their job.

Be good and be nice...

5 Things I like about the New Peugeot 308!

$
0
0

When it comes to cars.. I'm very particular to every detail of the car and what the car can provide me.
It is important that the car must be user-friendly, becos u gonna use it everyday. You wouldn't want a car that is complicated and make u frustrated when you wanna toggle with some functions.
Its my first time having hands on a Peugeot.. and its on the New Peugeot 308! And after a thoughtful process.. I've come up with 5 things I Like about the car.

First.. The Electric Parking Brake and Hill Assist.

Saw that Red (P) Light on?

Its actually a Hand Brake.

The New 308 features an automatic electric parking brake (or hand brake), meaning you do NOT have to put your handbrake on again after you put your car to parking mode, and your car is secure even when parked on a slope. Sloping starts are simpler than ever too with the New 308’s Hill Assist. The control works at the touch of a button, with a light indicating that the car is secure. Then the brakes stay on for two seconds, making it easy to pull away. The automatic electric handbrake and Hill Assist are available as standard on the Active, Allure and Feline versions.

With this Electric Parking Brake and Hill Assist.. there isn't a traditional hand-brake sticking out in between the central console.. hence it saves some space and looks much neater. :)

Second thing I Like about the car is that it has a Panoramic Roof.
I really love this because it makes the car feels airier and spacious inside!
I don't like to be constrained and nobody does.. a car like this with the Panoramic Roof will provide me and my passengers a carefree feel in the car. It provides a more relax and carefree experience for everyone. If the light is too bright outside, the innovative in-built canopy will filter the lights off so you never get dazzled. The panoramic cielo glass roof is available as standard on the Feline version, or as an option on the Active and Allure versions.

Third thing I Like about the car is that it has a Large 9.7" Touchscreen tablet that turns towards the driver and is perfectly integrated into the central dashboard. It provides fingertip access to all features. Their largest touch screen to date (available on the Active version and above) brings all your multimedia and air conditioning controls together in one place for ease of use. This stylish touch screen to date is framed by a simple dashboard, with very few buttons and just one large volume dial - an original approach to complete a minimalist look.

Fourth.. I like the backlamps which has a design of their own. They are like three straight diagonal lines down.. At least its something different rather than the normal backlights by many others like.. Ermz.. not to mention here! :P But those one piece type lah!

Fifth.. Its the Blind Spot Monitor!
This is pretty interesting! And I didn't know that cars can have such function.
It has a clever sensor that warns you if there’s something in your blind spot when you’re manoeuvring. Available as an option on the Allure and Feline versions. Cool~!

The front looks pretty luxury and sporty at the same time too.. depends on how you wanna see it.
It looks abit like Lexus... and the at the same time it looks abit like the Scirocco.
Alright.. You have the Best of Both Worlds!

My overall experience of the car was really good!
It delivers a pretty good 120bhp with the BLUEHDiEngine..
But unfortunately the test drive session was a bit too short. I didn't put the car to the real test of the speed.
I would love to drive this car again and also bring my love ones around.. allow my family to have a feel of the car that has a Panoramic Roof.. And my dad's 70th Birthday is round the corner.. It would be good to have this car to drive him to his Big Birthday celebration!!! ;)

Darken Your Brows Naturally!

$

This one is for all you gorgeous gals with brows lighter than your hair color. The lovely Hannah was so kind to let me borrow her brows to show you how this is done. Her hair is naturally brown but her brows are fine and blonde. I do this on a lot of my clients in the salon if their brows are lighter than their hair color– often times on a blonde who goes darker. But you can do this at home with a rich brown dye. I prefer to get something in the ashe family when doing brows because ashe combats warmth and keeps your brows from going too golden/red. I also prefer to use something with a lower volume since your goal is not to lift, but to deposit. Try a non-permanent dye like the ones that wash out in 28 washes. I find that regular dye gets too intense and looks a bit fake when darkening brows. These ones by Clairol will do the trick! By the way– this is not the same process as lightening eyebrows (which we’ll get to soon) so keep in mind these steps are only for darkening.

Okay, here we go!

You always want to be incredibly careful when using dye near your eyes. If you’re not good with stuff like this, enlist a friend! Keep your eyes closed while the color processes just to be safe.
  1. Start with clean dry brows. You don’t want to do this on brows that have been filled in with makeup because you won’t see the color change as well.
  2. Using a spoolie (which you can buy at any beauty supply) or an old mascara wand that has been shampooed and dried, comb out your brows.
  3. Apply color first to the inside half of the brow as you see Hannah doing above. I prefer doing this part first because I always find that it needs a little more time to process than the outsides. The hairs are usually thicker and more dense on the inside half.
  4. Wait a minute or two and go over it one more time with a little more color to make sure you didn’t miss any little spots– the inside halves of the brow can be really dense!
  5. Clean up the edges with a pointed q-tip. I use professional color remover, but you can also just use warm water. If you see any staining you can use SeaBreeze or any facial tonic to help remove the spot. But the whole reason you clean up as you go is to avoid staining. I would say you should give the insides 5-7 minutes to process before moving to the next step. You should see the color start changing/oxidizing.
  6. Next, apply the color to the outer halves.
  7. Clean up the edges again with a pointed q-tip and wait another 5-10 minutes. The color will probably appear darker than it really is and it can look a little scary. You can always remove a little dye with a q-tip to see where they’re at. If they’re not done, just put a little more color over that spot with your spoolie.
  8. Once it’s to your desired shade, use a dark towel with warm water to remove the rest of the color. You shouldn’t have much staining since you cleaned up as you go.
  9. Check your work in the mirror to make sure you didn’t miss any spots. If you did, just go back in and spot-treat it.
Good luck! Would love to hear your brow darkening experiences or any requests you have below. xo

10 Facts about MILO!

$
0
0

Popular energy drink Milo - sold under the Nestle company - has been put under the spotlight after authorities in Malaysia seized RM250,000 (S$94,058) worth of imitation Milo products in Negeri Sembilan on March 13.

Milo in refill packs were found to have been counterfeit products.

Such refill packs that can be bought in Singapore are not affected as they are made in Singapore, Nestle Singapore told The Straits Times on Monday (March 16).

The incident prompted Nestle Malaysia to embark on a campaign to educate its customers on how to spot the fakes.

It posted a photo on Facebook showing consumers how to distinguish fake Milo packaging by looking at the perforation on every pack. Here are 10 facts you may not know about the drink that is still savoured in Singapore.

1. Milo was developed in Australia during The Great Depression of the 1930s
Milo was developed in Australia for Nestle in the 1930s during The Great Depression, the longest-lasting economic downturn in the history of the Western industrialised world. At the time, children were not receiving enough nutrients from their daily diet, and Milo was meant to provide them the nutrients they needed.

2. Milo was launched in Sydney, Australia in 1934
Thomas Mayne, a Nestle engineer, created the nutritious and delicious beverage using Australian milk knowledge and Swiss cocoa expertise. He named the drink Milo after the Greek mythical character Milo of Croton, who was known for his strength. Milo was launched in 1934 at the Sydney Royal Easter show in Australia.

3. Milo was sold in Singapore since 1936
Nestle Singapore said that Milo is made in a factory in Jurong here. Milo made here is differentiated by a label with the statement 'Made In Singapore'." According to Milo Singapore's Facebook page, the malt is derived from malted barley from Europe, Canada and Australia, while the milk used comes from Australia and New Zealand. It has been produced locally since 1984. Milo has been sold in Singapore since 1936.

4. Milo is savoured in several forms in Singapore: 'Dinosaur' and 'Godzilla'

Other than the Milo drink, Milo is also eaten as a snack bar, as a cereal, and as "nuggets". Singapore bakeries also use Milo in their cupcakes and cakes. Milo also comes in the form of "Milo Dinosaur" which features a heap of Milo powder on top of a Milo drink, and "Milo Godzilla" which on top of Milo powder, has either whipped cream or ice cream.

5. "It's marvellous what Milo can do for you"

This jingle released as part of a Milo advertisement in the 1990s is probably the catchiest slogan Milo has had. The slogan was used for several years.

6. Milo vans still give out free cups

According to the SEA games website, more than 1 million cups of Milo are given free to Singaporeans annually through various sports and community events. Milo vans, which can generally be spotted during Sports Days in schools, provide free Milo. They can still be arranged through this website: http://www.nestle.com.sg/sponsorships. According to the Nestle website, the van holds enough Milo for at least 1,000 people.

7. Milo's nutrients

The four main ingredients in Milo are malted barley, milk powder, sugar and cocoa. It also contains nutrients such as iron, vitamin C and vitamin B1.

8. Milo's love affair with Singapore's sports scene

Milo started the Milo Football Training Scheme in Singapore in 1974. Soccer player Fandi Ahmad was the first player from the scheme to make it to Singapore's national football team. The scheme was stopped during former national soccer coach Barry Whitbread's tenure as technical director from 1995 to 1998. Milo is also an official partner in the South-east Asia Games being held in Singapore in June 2015.

In 2010, Milo injected more than $3 million into youth sports development. The year also marked Milo's 60th year in advocating the development of youth sports in Singapore.

9. Milo around the world
Milo is not just loved in Australia, where it was first produced. It is sold in 40 countries worldwide. Other than Singapore and Malaysia, this includes Kenya, Colombia and Peru. Malaysia has the largest Milo factory in the world located in Chembong, Negeri Sembilan, according to the Milo Malaysia website. According to the website, Milo was introduced as a tonic food drink in Malaysia in 1950. Malaysia is also believed to be the largest consumer of Milo.

10. Ways to improve Milo are researched in Singapore

In 2013, Nestle announced the extension of its research and development centre in Singapore to greater focus on the food company's fastest-growing markets in Asia-Pacific.

The Nestle Singapore centre employs about 100 experts from 17 countries specialising in fields including mechanical engineering, analytical chemistry, microbiology and sensory science, taking the global lead for the company's innovations in Milo-powdered beverages.

ABOUT THE CASTS

Charlene Choi – Charlene Choi bursts onto the Hong Kong pop music scene in 2001 and has been featured in almost 50 films. Charlene made her film debut in Heroes in Love  (2001). Since then, she has proved to be a prolific, versatile and promising actress. Whether in The Twins Effect (2003) , A Chinese Tall Story (2005) or The Midas Touch (2013), Charlene has never failed to surprise and to impress. She won Best Actress in the 11th Puchon International Fantastic Film Festival for her performance in Diary (2007), followed by Best Actress in Golden Bauhinia Award in 2007 for Simply Actors (2007).

Simon Yam– Veteran actor Simon Yam started his acting career at television station making more than 190 drama series before striking out into films. Since then, he has become a mainstay in Johnnie To’s crime thrillers, such as PTU (2004) and Election (2006), for which he was named Best Actor at the Hong Kong Golden Bauhinia Awards. Yam also co-starred opposite Angelina Jolie in Tomb Raider II and took part in 2 Korean Films: co-starred in the top-grossing The Thieves (2012) and cameo in Cold Eyes (2013).

MY REVIEW

I personally find that the movie was quite good actually. It does show occurrence of a young prostitute in Thailand and how it relates it to Charlene Choi's life in the movie. Its a daring role for Charlene. Thumbs up! But I think the movie would be good for a M18.. becos there isn't any or aren't many real exposures of private parts of any of the female actresses in the movie. It would be abit low rated for an R21.
Overall.. I would say the movie... CAN WATCH! :)

Filipino student shut down and dismissed by Lee Kuan Yew for asking irrelevant question

In this profoundly cringe-inducing video, Filipino student Harvey Campos suffers an epic smacking down by Singapore Elder Statesman and former Prime Minister Lee Kuan Yew. During the question-and-answer segment of some sort of convention, Campos had attempted to inquire into how Lee's work was influenced by his late wife (jumping of the "old adage" that behind every successful man is a woman).

Lee responded by saying that he was there to discuss public matters and not family matters.
(From my point of view.. Lee Kuan Yew is still more vigilant, alert and wiser than the guy who is asking him that question)

Campos was clearly out of his depth in the presence of the Elder Statesman. He...
(1) Spent an unnecessary amount of time introducing himself and his personal circumstances, within which time he;

(2) Weaved a lame attempt at flattery into his protracted lead up to the point he was going to make which, as it turns out;

(3) Was completely irrelevant to the objectives of the forum.

Suffice to say, Campos grossly misread the situation and, most appallingly Lee himself.
This episode is reminiscent of the Filipino celebrity journalist Ricky Lo's gaffe while interviewing Les Misrables star Anne Hathaway last year.

Like Lo, Campos fell into the trap of regarding Lee through the lens of a typical way Filipinos communicate with celebrities or people of stature. Rather than step up to speak at their level, it seems a common approach Filipinos take is to try to bring the level of the dialogue down to a more comfortable but substandard level of discourse.

I would give a clap to Mr. Lee Kuan Yew for putting the pinoy down with just two words, "Full stop!"

This video of Mr. Lee Kuan Yew really made me laughed! :)

What make this musical interesting? Beauty and the beauty is a fairytale story many people read when they are young.  which I enjoyed reading as a child. It's now transcends all ages. The musical is funny and touching. This musical is definitely suitable for kids, couples and families.

10 quotes from Mr Lee Kuan Yew's 1977 'awesome' speech in Parliament!

$

Parliament holds a special sitting on Thursday to honour the late Mr Lee Kuan Yew, Singapore's founding Prime Minister, who had made countless speeches in Parliament during his decades in politics.

One of his speeches was described as "awesome" by Emeritus Senior Minister Goh Chok Tong on Facebook on Wednesday.

It was a three-and-a-half hour address in February 1977 to a House that welcomed 11 new Members of Parliament, including Mr Goh, then 36, and it made a deep impression on the young Marine Parade MP who was to succeed Mr Lee as Prime Minister later in 1990.

Here are some extracts of that speech:

1. On succession
Perhaps I ought to begin by saying that they (new MPs) ought to take themselves seriously because we, on this side as Members of the Government, take them seriously. Upon us is the burden of finding a successor Government worthy of its responsibilities. It is not an easy job.

2. On population policy
We have got seven Catholics, and they are all good Catholics. I know the Papal bull - when I say "the Papal bull", I am not saying that in jest. I think that is the technical term, is it not? Whatever it is, the Pope issues his interpretation, and the interpretation is that you can only do it by the rhythm method. Well, I wish all Catholics have a good sense of rhythm.

3. An educated man
My definition of an educated man is a man who never stops learning and wants to learn. I am not interested in whether a man has a Ph.D or not, or an M.A. for that matter, or a diploma. Mao never had one, neither had Khrushchev, nor Stalin.

4. Why bilingualism is important
Way back in 1965 we found ourselves suddenly independent. If you lose that Chinese education and you go completely English-educated, you will lose that drive, that self-confidence. That is what is wrong. The danger is, if you are Chinese-educated and only Chinese-educated, you are monolingual, then your source of literature will be communist. That is big trouble. But if you are bilingual, you have binocular vision, then you see the world in 3-D.

5. A lecture on psephology
Because for a few years we were in Malaysia, for two years, when we did our psephological analysis. In case the press gets me wrong, it is psephology and not psychology. I have a dictionary here. It is the science of how people vote. Just in case they dispute my definition, I have brought the Shorter Oxford Dictionary and it is in the addenda. It is not in the body of the dictionary itself. It is a new science. Psephology - the study of trends in voting or elections. From Greek psephos (pebble) because when the Greek voted he threw a pebble.

6. Independence
Let me assure all honourable members that each time I swear the oath of allegiance to the Republic of Singapore, my mind goes back to the 9th of August, 1965. I did not want it. We had independence thrust upon us. And the expectation was that in two to three years we would be so down on our knees and crawling that we would have to go back on any terms. No autonomy in Education, Labour, and all the other subjects. Different terms. Maybe if they were kind, like Penang and Malacca. But we resolved to make this work. Never forget that it was the will, not just of a few men. That was necessary. But the will was in the people. Otherwise it would not have worked.

7. On clean government
We did not fight the elections in December 23. We fought it as from September 1972. We made sure that no MP, no Parliamentary Secretary, no Minister misbehaved or abused his power. Because if you do, it is a very tight and swift compact society, it spreads like wild fire.
I am not saying, "No, let us be celibate." I am not even asking let us all be faithful to our wives, let us have no divorces. I do not ask that. All I ask is, please do not misbehave yourself. Anybody who has a paternity suit against him is out and there will be a by-election. That is all I say. Let us have none of this.

8. Being Chinese vs being Singaporean
When I went to China, I discovered that I was not a Chinaman. Yes, Mr Lee Khoon Choy will be my witness. I brought my young daughter with me for political reasons... It was for definite specific political reasons, one of them being to test how a Chinese-educated girl, but bilingual, would react to this situation. I am glad to say that we will relax our regulations about young people visiting China... in small groups, there is no better education for a proper appreciation of Singapore. You come back and kiss the soil.

9. On Singaporeans
You know the Singaporean. He is a hard-working, industrious, rugged individual. Or we would not have made the grade. But let us also recognise that he is a champion grumbler.

10. Popular vs populist
If you want to be popular, do not try to be popular all the time. Popular government does not mean that you do popular things all the time. We do not want to be unpopular or to do unpopular things. But when they are necessary, they will be done. Popular representative government means that within each five-year period, your policies have demonstrably worked and won popular support. That is what it means. And if we flinch from the unpopular, we are in deep trouble.

Movie Review

This movie has quite a lot of action in it.. if you're going for an action movie.. this is the one.. But it may not suit your movie taste as some may find it abit absurd and the movie as jus OK Only! Which means average and not very fascinating... But some people told me its quite nice after watching it! So I've no say for this..

Ahh.. this one looks like Bruce Lee!Water!!!!!!!!!!

Ok la.. his name is called LIM Ju-hwan!

LEE Hyun-woo

Shes the lady which the lead actor, KIM Woo-bin likes in the movie..
Isn't she very pretty?
Theres nothing that is imperfect I can say about her externally.
What else can she operate?
Oh I mean plastic surgery!
Or.. perhaps she has done it already!? I'm not sure..

Her name is CHO Youn-hee!

In this movie the Best Part I Like about is the part when KIM Woo-bin, the Master-Planner tried to open the safe. They made it look so interesting JUST by opening a safe!

Ahh.. this one looks like Lee Ming Shun... (Christopher Lee) haha..

Look at his TIE!
This guy looks quite familiar.. I can't recall where I saw him on TV.

The All-New Toyota Corolla Altis – A Legend Redefined!

The all-new Corolla Altis’ design theme exudes the confidence of a modern, advanced vehicle. With a longer wheelbase and shorter overhangs, the car holds an athletic stance with greater presence. More pronounced flared wheel arches, and a clean yet impactful sculpted surface adds an air of elegance to its sporty exterior.

Viewed in profile, a sweeping crease in the body sheet metal spans the length of the sedan and accentuates the integrated door handle design. The exterior tapers towards the front and rear of the vehicle to emphasize its wheel arches, with a longer, faster sloping roofline that blends into a shorter rear deck to give the sedan a sportier image.

The curves of this new Altis is indeed nice!

And the colour of this car (Grey Metallic) suits the design pretty well.. if not I think Silver would be nice too!

Even the tail-lights are pleasant looking to the eyes..

There are two categories for the new Toyota Corolla Altis, namely the Classic and Elegance.
The one I'm having here is the Elegance.. which is the higher tier as compared to classic.

Everytime I drive a Toyota.. I always have this very smooth feeling of the engine.. It accelerates so smoothly that driving the car was so effortless... Not an exception for this All-New Toyota Corolla Altis! Thanks to the 1.6L Dual VVT-iengine.. it exhibits the same driving experience as ever.

It can hit a top speed of 185 km/h and travel from 0-100 km/h in 11.1 seconds. Well.. not too bad for a sedan car. :)

Interior looks fresh and inviting..
And I actually like the SIMPLE design of the dashboard with large display touch-screen.

Leg room at the back is quite big..
Compare with the leg spaces taken up at the front seats in the previous picture, this Altis is indeed Spacious!

Driver's door.

Driver's carpet.
I quite like the idea that they have two knobs to lock the carpet to the ground so that the carpet would not shift here and there due the frequent movements of the leg accelerating and braking.

Boot space is huge and deep too!
'Deep' was wad my dad commented when he saw the boot space.

If the boot space isn't enough for your stuffs.. the backseats can be folded down! :)

Now.. its time to Start the engine!
Everytime when you start the car... you would be greeted with a Welcome note on the speedometer!

Nice and classy central console.

Smart Start / Stop Engine button

Closer look on the dashboard and controls..
The large touch-screen allows you to display media like video as well..
and the touch-screen sensitivity was very good too.. jus a gentle press on the desired radio station for example, the station would be selected.

The touch-screen also allows you see wad is behind your car when it is in the Reverse gear.

Nanoe Auto-Climate Aircon - Featuring a nanoe™ generator, the air-conditioning system cleans the air as it cools, suppressing allergens and odour.

Electrochromic Mirror - Specially designed for night driving, the mirror automatically dims itself to cut off the glare from the high beams of rear traffic.

This was really interesting during my drive when it was drizzling abit.
You may have selected the wiping mode to be wiping once in a few seconds.. But with the Auto Rain Sensing Wipers.. when it detects more rain, it will wipe faster. Intelligent! :)

At this point.. the car is at rest.
(Sound like doing some Physics.. haha.)

When the car starts to move, the white bar will move as well.. IF you accelerated gently, you will be in the ECO-mode. Hence, saving your petrol! :)

Cushion at the centre of the back-seats can be pulled down to create an arm-rest for the passenger.

And you can put two cups in it..
Perhaps your coffee and travel in class.. ;)

a view of the Altis in the car park

Nice Muscular Rim!

A first in its category, LED headlamps provide excellent visibility under all conditions, while the daytime-running lights add safety and a unique look.
Only the Elegance version has the LED headlamps.

a view of the car at night!

the back view somehow looks abit like Lexus which I find it very nice and appealing.

Everytime you switch off the engine... the car will bid Good-bye to you on the speedometer.

The above photo was proudly done and edited by me..

First trying to visit him on a Thursday late afternoon..
I could see a lot of crowd queuing at the other side of the river.

On the way to queue... saw this boat with a portrait of him.. and snapped a picture.

Taken on Saturday when on my way trying to pay a visit to him for the last time.
I didn't manage to make it to the parliament on Thursday.. becos I thought of waiting for my friend to go together at a later time on the same day as I was actually alone queuing.. quite bored and still quite a long way to go in the queue. There were some thoughts running thru' my mind and I decided to back out from the queue..

And of course this time.. on the Saturday. I told myself I have to make it there no matter wad.

Along the way.. I saw pictures of LKY like everywhere.. so decided to take some pictures of them.

Why this photo of the mobile toilet appears here?
Well.. I think they do play a part in Lee Kuan Yew's wake..
It may probably be sponsored by the company itself.
They played an important role.

On my way walking in... after about 4 hrs of waiting.

The other side of the lane were people who had visited him and making their way out..

Getting closer and closer to him..
I guess everyone didn't know wad to expect and just walked in..

After visiting him.. I took a picture of the Parliament where he was inside there at that moment!

May you Rest in Peace, Mr. Lee Kuan Yew...
and we will miss you!

Thank you for what you had contributed to Singapore!

23 Words Mispronounced By Singaporeans Their Whole Lives

$
0
0
Now don't get me wrong, Singlish is great. It gets the job done and every Singaporean (and Malaysian) knows what you're talking about when you speak Singlish. It is super unique and essentially makes us who we are. Singlish is the best.  But it bothers me when English words, not Singlish but English, are mispronounced by Singaporeans.

I'm not saying I'm not guilty of committing these errors, I absolutely am. But since there's no better way to learn for myself and to help other people learn too, here's a list of 23 words that Singaporeans tend to mispronounce along with their correct pronunciations.

1. Flour

Singapore Pronunciation: flahr
Correct Pronunciation: flou-er

I think majority of us tend to get this one wrong, I know I'm guilty. Instead of saying it like "flahr" its meant to be pronounced like "flou-er" or flower. Yeah, I know, English is a strange language.
giphy-9.gif
Update: Okay for Singaporeans still in denial about this saying the pronunciation is actually "American" - please go to http://dictionary.cambridge.org/pronunciation/british/flour_1# and play the audio version of the British version. The British distinction is not as clear as the American but you can look at the phonetics and if you listen clearly, its pronounced the same way. FLOWER!
So yes, you've been pronouncing it wrong your whole life. But so have we, so don't worry!

2. Algae

Singapore Pronunciation: el-gay
Correct Pronunciation: al-gee

We see the A at the end of this word and proceed to pronounce it like "el-gay." (El actually means "the one" in Spanish so pronouncing it like that is like saying "The Gay One." LOL)
The right way to say it is "al-gee" as in "Oh Ehm Gee, there's a whole lot of algae in that pond!"
giphy-1_20140428-030005_1.gif

3. Cement

Singapore Pronunciation: see-men
Correct Pronunciation: si-ment

So a lot of people pronounce this like "See-men" when its actually "si-ment." Needless to say, mispronouncing this one might lead to some VERY awkward situations.
giphy-4_20140428-031438_1.gif

4. Children

Singapore Pronunciation: chew-ren / cho-dren
Correct Pronunciation: chil-drehn

I'm all for food, but chewing people really does not sound like a good idea.
giphy-6_20140428-034513_1.gif

5. Divorce

Singapore Pronunciation: die-vos
Correct Pronunciation: di-vors

Yeah, divorce is a really horrid thing and you might feel like you're dying but that's no reason to call it "die-vos". Lets all agree to stick to "di-vors," okay? Okay.
giphy-8_20140428-040523_1.gif

6. Lingerie

Singapore Pronunciation: ling-ger-rie
Correct Pronunciation: lon-zhurh-rey

Okay this one is a bit tricky so if you mispronounce it, like I do, you're forgiven. Maintaining that English is a strange language, this one isn't pronounced "ling-ger-rie" which is obviously how it looks. Tap into your inner pretentious French speaker and say it like "lon-zhuhr-rey".
giphy-10_20140428-073039_1.gif

7. Opportunity

Singapore Pronunciation: o-por-tunity
Correct Pronunciation: op-uh-tyoo-nuh-tee

This is an example of one that gets on my nerves. Instead of "o-pour-tunity" it should be pronounced "op-uh-tyoo-nuh-tee". The incorrect pronunciation honestly makes my skin crawl.
giphy-12_20140428-075347_1.gif

8. Prayer

Singapore Pronunciation: pray-er
Correct Pronunciation: prair

Nope its not "pray-er" its "prair". Why is there a Y? Yeah, I don't quite know either.

9. Salmon

Singapore Pronunciation: sal-mon
Correct Pronunciation: sam-uhn

Another word with a completely redundant letter, instead of "sal-mon" it should be pronounced "sam-uhn." Ever wonder who makes these rules?
giphy-14_20140428-081356_1.gif

10. Sugar

Singapore Pronunciation: su-ger
Correct Pronunciation: shoog-er

I don't tend to come across this mispronunciation often but its pretty common. The S is sugar is meant to be pronounced as an Sh sound so instead of "su-ger" it should be "shoog-er".
Just imagine you're trying to shush that "ah girl" up. "Shoo girl" but without the L.
giphy-15_20140428-084222_1.gif

11. Tuition

Singapore Pronunciation: tu-tion
Correct Pronunciation: too-ish-uhn

Its important to get this word pronounced properly, seeing as its on the lips of every locally educated person. Its "too-ish-uhn" instead of "tu-tion".

12. Women

Singapore Pronunciation: woo-men
Correct Pronunciation: wim-in

Nope, we ladies are not trying to "woo-men." It should be pronounced "wim-in." Keep that in mind so the next time you face a tough lady, you won't experience a serious beat down.
giphy-18_20140428-092843_1.gif

13. Colleague

Singapore Pronunciation: Ker-ligg
Correct Pronunciation: Call-leeg
This could save you from some embarrassment at an international meeting/office.
"And dis is my ker-ligg Ah Beng."

14. Probably

Singapore Pronunciation: Problee/Prolly
Correct Pronunciation: Prob-buh-blee
Same problem with 'properly'. But hey, what's wrong with a little convenience?
b2ap3_thumbnail_gc2ov.jpg

15. Hotel

Singapore Pronunciation: Horh-tell
Correct Pronunciation: Hoe-tell
b2ap3_thumbnail_hoe.jpg
Where dem hoes at?

16. Excuse me

Singapore Pronunciation: Eskew me
Correct Pronunciation: ax-kews me
b2ap3_thumbnail_eskew.jpg
Every Singaporean's short-lived attempt at being polite at the MRT station.

17. Subtle

Singapore Pronunciation: Sub-terh
Correct Pronunciation: Suh-tuhl
Silent b guys. Also, don't forget the l at the end! This is a super common mistake across the board of 'bt's like 'debt'.

18. Sword

Singapore Pronunciation: Sward
Correct Pronunciation: Sord
#ITZLIDDAT

19. Abalone

Singapore Pronunciation: Ab-alone
Correct Pronunciation:Ab-alon-ee
The 'e' isn't silent! Don't ask me why it's silent in 'alone' but articulated in 'abalone'. And I'm just saying, but pretty sure the abs made the difference.

20. Film

Singapore Pronunciation: Flim/fillum
Correct Pronunciation: Fil-m
Can't help but wonder if this is just some classic 'i'/'l' confusion taken one step too far.

21. Yellow

Singapore Pronunciation: Yah-low
Correct Pronunciation: Yeh-low
Okay this one is important because if yah-low becomes accepted in the future then there will be no more 'yellow yellow dirty fellow rhymes'. It's just not the same.

22. Wednesday

Singapore Pronunciation: Wen-ness-day
Correct Pronunciation: Wens-day
Did you know that Wednesday is also known as hump day? So if in future you forget which is the right pronunciation, just say 'hump day'.
But before you start giggling like a prepubescent teenage boy, know that this 'hump' is a noun (not a verb) that refers to getting over the first half of the work week.

23. Nasi Lemak

Singapore Pronunciation: Na-si Loh-makCorrect Pronunciation: Na-si Le-mak
Eh this one is our local food leh. Can we at least say this one propply not??

Never make these mistakes again
